A notification issued from the office of PM Shahbaz Sharif on June 15 said that in the light of the decision passed by the National Assembly on May 9, 2022.

PM Shahbaz Sharif is happy to approve the charter of the Task Force on Minorities to oversee the implementation of the rights of minorities in the light of the Supreme Court election.

The task force, which includes 23 MPs, senators and former participants, may be headed by MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, who is also the patron saint of the Pakistan Hindu Council.

According to the reference clause in the notification, the chairman of the task force will maintain the credibility of the federal minister, until the body plays an advisory role. The task force will look into and monitor all issues related to the protection of the rights of minorities in the light of the elections taken up by the Supreme Court.

In addition, all provincial governments and administrations were notified within the notification to provide full guidance and assistance to the task force in carrying out its work. Following the orders, Dr. Vankwani announced on Twitter that this was the first time such a step had been taken in Pakistan’s record.

Dr. Vankwani promised that he could quickly release a brand new marketing campaign for the safety of the rights of minorities in collaboration with the participants of Parliament, civil society, human rights activists, buddies of the media, and diplomats. In 2014, the top court had ordered the charter of a country-wide council of minorities' rights for the tracking of the sensible realization of the rights and safeguards furnished to the minorities below the Constitution and law

He said that the parliamentarians had decided to form a task force for the rights of minorities and PM Shahbaz Sharif had issued orders to implement it which showed the concrete steps taken by the present authorities for the protection of minorities.

As chairman of the task force, Vankwani continued, “I would really like to address the feelings of distrust of minorities.”

Dr. Vankwani promised that recommendations could be made to address the problems faced by minorities and we are able to bring together people from all walks of life. In order to maintain that counter-Pakistan propaganda against minorities around the world has become a top priority of the task force.

He also said that 8 years ago, on June 19, the Supreme Court introduced a landmark judgment which gave a spark to the aspirations of minorities across the country. Meanwhile, the governments of PTI chairman Imran Khan and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif came to an end. Eventually the coalition authorities were executed.

Dr. Vankwani promised that he would soon launch a brand new marketing campaign to protect the rights of minorities, together with members of Parliament, civil society, human rights activists, media friends and diplomats.

In 2014, the Supreme Court ordered the charter of the National Council for the Rights of Minorities to seek an understanding of the rights and protections afforded to minorities under the Constitution and the law.
